Gleesons, Roscommon Town - Gleeson’s Townhouse & Restaurant come with our absolute highest recommendation.  We have seen the proprieters, Eamonn and Mary, work tirelessly to promote Roscommon Tourism, and to ensure that every single visitor has the best experience they can possibly provide.  Nothing is too much trouble for these wonderful people!  Roscommon town is only a 15 minute drive from us in Tulsk, with great bus and train direct links, and Eamonn will be able to get you sorted for a trip to Tulsk if you don’t want to bring the car.

Percy French Hotel, Strokestown, just ten minutes drive from us in Tulsk, we have recently heard a brilliant review of a Wexford couple’s stay with the Percy French (March 2012).  Their room was lovely and good value, they said, and the 10oz Steak for dinner is apparently more like a 16oz – the poor guy could barely finish it!  They had great craic and a wonderful ‘Special Craft Beer’ tasting with Jason at Hanly’s Bar, just across the road from the hotel.  In the Chinese restaurant next door, the Yu Garden, they do a weekend all-you-can-eat 20 course buffet for just €12.50 per adult, with exceptional friendly service.  And there are of course the delightful visitor attractions of Strokestown House, Gardens and Famine Museum, and Irish Heritage Crafts & Bookshop, where archaeologist John makes custom bog oak crafts, and welcomes you in for a browse of the local crafts and new & used bookshop.

Lough Key House, in the grounds of Lough Key Forest Park, just 20 minutes from us in Boyle.

Durkins of Ballaghaderreen, which you will pass through on your way from Knock Airport, is just 25 minutes from Tulsk.
